These two very common procedures are undertaken at all Abbey Hospitals. Both procedures are available for patients who are insured, and for those patients without private health insurance a Fixed Price Surgery scheme can usually be offered.

Hernias

Hernia is a common name for ‘rupture’, which is a common condition amongst men and boys. Often heavy work or sporting pursuits can result in a hernia. There are different types of hernia, such as the following:

· Hiatus
· Inguinal
· Umbilical
· Femoral
· Sports Groin hernia

After an initial consultation with a consultant surgeon, you will be advised of the type of hernia you have and will receive further details about the treatment and procedure which may be undertaken.

Varicose Veins

All of our consultant surgeons cover the general broad range of vascular surgery including varicose vein treatment. Each consultant has their own specific area of expertise and collectively they can provide specialist treatment in the following areas:

· Varicose veins
· Venous ulceration
· Sclerotherapy
· Revisional surgery for recurrent veins
· Surgery for arterial and venous disease.

The Cost

A Fixed Price Surgery scheme is available for Hernia and Varicose Vein procedures. Please ask for full details.
